Jersey’s restaurants keep Michelin Stars as island gains first Bib Gourmand

A week before official publication, the details of the Michelin Guide for 2013 abound the internet. Inspectors have included 18 new one star restaurants, taking the total number of UK and Ireland establishments up 138.

Three Jersey restaurants feature in the guide, all maintaining their one star status from 2012. These include Bohemia, Ocean and Tassili which also appear in The Good Taste Guide: Jersey, the only independent restaurant guide dedicated to food in Jersey.

In addition to Michelin stars, Jersey has also just obtained its first Bib Gourmande, propelling the number of accoladed restaurants way beyond what anyone might expect for an island with a population of less than 100,000.

Michelin Restaurants

Set in The Club and Spa Hotel, Bohemia has held a Michelin star since 2005. Run by Shaun Rankin, the restaurant also has 4AA Rosettes. http://www.bohemiajersey.com/

Overlooking the Atlantic, Ocean has the most beautiful location of Jersey’s Michelin star holders. A champion of island produce, Mark Jordan, has held a Michelin star since 2007, while The Atlantic Hotel received its fourth AA Rosette last year. Mark also runs the bistro Mark Jordan At The Beach which has just received Jersey’s first Michelin Bib Gourmand. http://www.theatlantichotel.com/ocean-restaurant/index.html

Tassili at Grand Jersey received its first Michelin Star in 2011, and less than a year later, its chef, Richard Allen scooped the Craft Guild of Chefs, Chef of the Year Award. http://www.grandjersey.com/grand-jersey/tassili.html
